If You Want Luxury Choose Handmade Wedding Invitations
For most Brides their wedding day is a very special time where everything has to be perfect. From the invitations and favours to the bridal gown and flowers. Every bride wants the perfect day and the start to that is the stationery.
Your wedding invitations are the first thing that your guests will see and it sets the tone for your wedding day. Your invites should match your colour scheme and exude an element of style and luxury.
Why Handmade Wedding Invitations?
When most brides think of luxury invitations they think of cards decorated with diamanté, buckles and ribbons. Most printed designs do not feature these embellishments unlike handmade wedding invitations. You also get an element of flexibility with hand crafted designs such your choice of ribbon. You can therefore match the stationery to your chosen colour scheme.
Can I Customise Handmade Wedding Invites?
Many wedding stationers will accommodate designs changes, however, there may be a charge for this. It commonly depends on the extent of the amendments required. If you have a specific design in mind you might want to ask you stationer to create your a bespoke card.
Prices
The price varies from design to design but expect to pay around £3.00 to £5.00 for luxury cards. Delivery charges are often based on weight, however, this isn't always the case so you should check this before purchase.
Making Your Own Invites
If you are crafty, patient and have some time on your hands then you can always make your own luxury wedding invitations. When coming up with a design I recommend a mood board. Get together photos of designs that you like plus material and colour swatches.
Once you have decided on a design I recommend creating some practice cards first. This ensures that your design is easy to assemble and looks great!
Top Tips
1. Keep it simple. Remember you need to make 50, 100, 200 of these! The more complicated the design the longer it will take you to make them. You might also need to make thank you cards, orders of service, etc. and you don't want to run out of steam.
2. Enough supplies. Make sure you have enough supplies to make the required cards. You don't want to run out half way through and realise you can not get any more stock. Also remember, what I like to call, "the essential bits". You have your card stock, ribbons and flowers but how are you going to assemble it if you don't have any glue, double sided tape and scissors? These are things often looked over but they are essential. I recommend good sharp scissors and also some tweezers.
3. Time. Make sure you have enough time. Making cards can be a long process, especially if you have a large amount of guests. Give yourself plenty of time and don't leave it until the night before!
4. Inserts. Always print your inserts on scrap paper cut to size before printing the final design. This ensures that you have the right printer settings. Note: You might need to change your printer to custom paper size, check your printer's manual if you are unsure of how to do this.
